Visitor Quote

"'Caerhays is a truely remarkable garden. With its range of trees and shrubs it is a paradise for the plant lover. Everyone can love its setting in the valley by the sea, and the beauty of its plants, like the blaze of pink of the Magnolia Caerhays Belle against a blue sky just behind the castle, surely one of the wonders of the horticultural world. It is so encouraging to feel and see the energy now going into the renewal and development of this world famous garden.'"
Sir Kenneth Carlisle

Caerhays BeachCaerhays Beach

Do you remember a day on the beach when you were a child? No speed boats, no jet skis, just a shop selling ice creams, snacks and beach toys with plenty of space to run and play. Well that could still be Porthluney beach today.

During the summer, under the management of Bob and Cathy Eden, Porthluney Beach Cafe and Shop has all you could want for an old fashioned day at the beach.

The large car park (charge payable May to September) means there will be no problem with parking and no walking miles to get to the sand and, as long as it's kept on a lead, even your dog is welcome.

In the winter an ideal spot for surfers, the perfect starting point for a walk along the cliffs, somewhere to spend a relaxing couple of hours with your fishing rod or just to sit in you car and listen to the sea. This beach has it all. Whether, basking in the summer sun or wild and windswept in the winter, Porthluney Cove overlooked by the castle has something for everyone and is the perfect family Cornish Beach.
