Visitor Quote

"'Caerhays is a truely remarkable garden. With its range of trees and shrubs it is a paradise for the plant lover. Everyone can love its setting in the valley by the sea, and the beauty of its plants, like the blaze of pink of the Magnolia Caerhays Belle against a blue sky just behind the castle, surely one of the wonders of the horticultural world. It is so encouraging to feel and see the energy now going into the renewal and development of this world famous garden.'"
Sir Kenneth Carlisle

Champion Trees
Caerhays does it again, not quite a medal but perhaps a tribute to all the work which goes on here in the gardens.

Meliosma beaniana -  one of the Champion Trees at Caerhays
Following a visit from a representative of the Tree Register, Caerhays officially now has over 75 champion trees in the garden this is believed to be the highest number in any Cornish garden and one of the highest in the UK. a great accolade for Caerhays.
With varieties ranging from Acer to Trochodendron and of course the Magnolias, Rhododrendrons and Quercus for which Caerhays are famous, the registered champions cover a wide range.
There will be lists available for visitors to the gardens in 2008 with details of the trees and sizes, and there will be a new section of the Caerhays website in the spring with these lists and more information on the history of the champions trees at Caerhays for anyone who is interested.
Details of the Tree Register and the work it does can be found on www.treeregister.org  or for more information on the trees at Caerhays please contact Jaimie -  Click Here
